Description
If you need to run cables over a street or pavement, it’s important to take measures to reduce the risk of tripping and electrocution for pedestrians. Failure to do so could result in legal consequences. The Allcam RCP5-series street cable protectors are designed to minimize these risks, with highly-visible yellow covers, a 20,000kg loading capacity, and 2 large cable channels. They provide essential protection for pedestrians and workers, and keep cables safe from heavy foot or vehicle traffic.
Keep street safe while charging your EV on public road
For electric vehicle (EV) owners without private parking, running a charging cable over a public road pavement can be a safety hazard. The Allcam RCP5-series street cable protectors offer a solution to this problem, dramatically reducing the risk of accidents. These protectors are ideal for most streets with car or van traffic, supporting a maximum load of up to 20 metric tons. However, they’re not recommended for roads with HGV or artic lorry traffic. Keep your street safe while charging your EV with the Allcam RCP5-series street cable protectors.
Heavy-duty for light-vehicle traffic
The RCP5-series street cable protectors support a maximum load up to 20 metric tons, this is good for streets with car/van traffic, but NOT recommended for roads with HGV/ artic lorry traffic.
Two 32x32mm channels
The cable channels measure 32x32mm each (width x height). Each channel is big enough for roughly 4x 13A mains extension cables, or 1x fast electric vehicle charging cable, or 1x water hose.
Easy access feature
The hinged lid makes it very convenient to insert and remove cables. Each main module has 2 recessed points so you can easily flip the lid up, There are also “handle” point at the bottom so you can easily carry it around in your hand.
Interlocking modular design
The interlocking modular design makes it very quick to connect one part to another. The RCP5 road cable protectors come with two modules:
- RCP5YB Main Body Module: this measures 0.9m (~3ft) in length and 0.25m (~0.8ft) in width, with a hinged yellow cover over the two cable channels;
- RCP5END End Piece Module (optional): this measures 0.16m (~0.5ft) in length, you may cut it down to 0.09m (~0.3ft). There are two locking blocks embedded at the bottom which can be used to connect with the main module. The height is 4.5cm at the connecting side (same as the main module), and tapers off from roughly the middle position.
You can DIY your own cable protector using these modules, you can also upgrade later by adding one or more modules. For example, you made a pavement cable protector using 2x RCP5YB and 2x RCP5END, so it measures 2.12m in length (2×0.9+2×0.16 = 2.12). Later you find it is not as wide as your street, so you add 2 more RCP5YB, so now your street cable protector is 3.92m in length (2.12 + 2×0.9 = 3.92).
The RCP5END End Piece is designed for customers who like to keep a nice tidy finish. Since there are always two ends, customers would normally buy two ending pieces as well, although there is nothing wrong if you only want to use one end piece or even none at all.
