I am 73 years old, My wife is 75 years old. My wife wears two hearing aids, It is impossible for her to go to any kind of a theater, and enjoy a movie. concert, etc. She hears nothing but a lot of noise. These players are a real blessing, and the quality and construction of the product is excellent. She can plug the ear buds into the unit, and hear very well. I also have an in-line amplifier, that can plug, between the ear buds, and the player. She can increase the volume gradually up to four times the normal output, if that is needed. I bought this model as a present for my wife earlier this year and I have to say we are both more than pleased with its performance. It plays DVD's, Divx burnt to CD's and DVD's and we can view photos from our digital camera by plugging the memory card directly into the player. It also plays photos and video directly from a USB memory stick, unfortunately it wont recognise my Fuji camera plugged into the USB port, but you can't have everything. The add-on TV tuner also works well, picking up the 5 terrestrial channels well. All in all, very pleased...

Initial query (by Nick): I ordered this a Shinco SDP-6820 portable DVD player on Monday which came yesterday. Overall I am very pleased with it.... however when I connect it to a television either using the SCART adaptor or directly using the component connections I get no picture only sound. I know the TVs work using this method as I have a video camera and it works fine.

Answer (by Allcam): Press the "source" button once, and again, ... till you get to "AV out"
mode, then you will get picture on your TV.

The screen display is crisp and clear and the audio impressive through the supplied ear plug speakers (a little thin on the small fixed speakers). DVD playback is simply fabulous, and the unit has coped with "problem" discs which will not work on my expensive living room DVD player. USB and digicard readers work fine, so I can use these easily for my photos. TV reception is not perfect but acceptable through the small aerial unit and this is certainly worth having for the extra small outlay.

If you want to use my comments for a testimonial please feel free ! I shall gladly recommend Allcam to my friends ...

... A note to say thanks for the super fast delivery of my Shinco SDP-1720a portable DVD player. I ordered this item about 10m on Tuesday and it arrived at my door at 10.49am the following day. Now that is Super Service. The player itself is the best that I have seen at this price. The picture quality and sharpness is fantastic, text on the screen is very clear, not like the one that I had to return to a famous electrical supplier. In fact I have not seen a better screen for clarity, vividness and pure quality. The audio is good but through the supplied earphones it is excellent.

The shinco SDP 1250, has already proven to be the best player i have ever purchased.
For example, in the past i have not been able to use some of my old dvd recordings on (cheap media), and had got to the point of nearly throwing them in the bin, but the shinco plays all of the dvds smoothly.
Believe me, I had tried to copy the dvd contents from the dvds to my pc, so that i could re-write them to new media, but without success.

So thanks shinco, for producing the best player that copes with cheap media and scratches ect.

I have to say that I don't think I have ever received such good service and support from any company as I have from Allcam.

I bought a Shinco DVD player last year which developed a fault. It was replaced without fuss in record time. Not only that, it was upgraded to the latest model.

Unfortunately, the latest model uses a different a/v cable - problem!? Not for Allcam who shipped a new cable overnight.

There's a lot of companies could learn a lot from your approach to customer service. Well done and keep it up.

I ordered Shinco 8" portable DVD player last Thursday, and it arrived Friday Lunchtime - excellent service.

I have tested the unit playing commercial DVDs, DVDs that I have recorded on my own DVD recorder, Music CDs and last but not least, reading JPEG pictures saved on a Compact Flash Card, read via a Card Reader through the USB port.
All modes worked absolutely fine, and I am very pleased with the unit. I don't know why the design does not incorporate CF card reading as well as the other formats, but that is a very minor point given that the USB port is there.
Altogether a great piece of kit - many thanks

Up till today I had just used it for showing photos on CD but someone has lent me a copy of The Aviator and I never found time watch it and I have to return it tomorrow. Got it out the box to check it before I hide it for Xmas for my litte lass. I was amazed with the build and it played all my avi's dvd's svcd, cd, etc. Connected to my big screen and it was great. Allcam mailed it next day. Great service.

Sorry it's taken so long to respond but wanted to say a big thank you for your help and support on what portable dvd player to buy. The Shinco you suggested was (and is) awesome. There's nothing it won't play, the build quality is great, the picture superb and with a decent set of plugs the sound separates incredibly well.

I'm too old to get into Forums, but I'd like to complement you on both superb service and product.
The player order confirmed Sunday, was delivered first thing yesterday morning. That's quick!
I've bought this for a son's Christmas present, but had to give it a whirl first - just using mains adaptor.
What an excellent picture and sound.
It also managed to read the front end of a 'dubious' copy, which I then managed to play. This I did not expect!
The software must be really comprehensive, and I can fully recommend this model.

Design and finish is excellent.

Just received shinco1250 and must say it is a lot of machine for the money. Not only does it look like it costs a lot more it plays all formats with a fantastic clarity. Speakers are a bit tinny but still very good for the size. And finally as a footnote fantastic value for money well recommended.

Hi i got the 8" LCD TV and it seem very good and I've ordered the battery if I go out somewhere else - it seem it great as it large screen... I know how to use with PC and dvd,etc.. I always like to see mix TV& PC with dvd..

Thanks for the very prompt service - the TV arrived today - (they tried to deliver it yesterday, but we were out).

We are most impressed with it - it all works fine, the picture is very clear, and the sound is quite incredible for such a small and reasonably priced unit - it can almost give our Bose Wave CD/radio a run for it's money; it's certainly a whole lot cheaper!

We look forward ( hopefully ) to many years of happy viewing / listening.
