USB Skpye Phone / Adapter and VOIP telephony

Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is a new type of phone service featuring free PC to PC calls, much cheap PC to phone call rate, and many other free functionality such as receiving an incoming call wherever there is Internet connection. There are two basic methods how VOIP works:

1. VOIP Phone ----- PC ---- Internet ---- VOIP Service Provider (like Skype, Yahoo! Voice Messenger, Vonage...)
2. Ordinary Analogue Phone ---- Analogue Telephone Adapter---- (PC) ---- Internet ---- VOIP Service Provider
   

Depending on the service level you have subscribed with the VOIP service provider, you might be able to use the VOIP phone like an ordinary phone, or you can only talk to PC (another member). For example: you can become a Skype member completely free, but you can only talk to other Skype members (and Skype members can only talk to you by clicking your member name on their computer screen). If you want a normal telephone No. so other people (not only Skype members) can call you simply by the Nos. on their ordinary telephone keypad, then you have to buy the additional service called "SkypeIn"; if you want to call other ordinary telephone, then you need to buy "SkypeOut Credit" (although with much cheaper rate than BT/NTL).
